KEY POINTS:
Two North Shore schoolboys were subjected to a terrifying robbery and kidnap ordeal after leaving a movie on Saturday night.
One 16-year-old was forced into his attacker's car and driven to a cashpoint while his friend was ordered to follow in his own vehicle.
The two schoolboys were walking back to the carpark behind the Takapuna Burger King after seeing a movie when two teens confronted them about 11.45pm.
Detective Sergeant Scott Armstrong said the robbers - who had an iron bar and a screwdriver - told the schoolboys to hand over their cellphones and other personal items, including clothing.
One of the boys was then forced into his attacker's "souped-up" boyracer car and driven to an A" machine in Milford, while his friend was told to follow behind the attacker's car in his friend's vehicle.
At the A" both boys were forced to withdraw money from their accounts while being threatened about what would happen to them if they didn't comply.
"They were getting quite graphic about what might happen if they didn't [obey]," said Mr Armstrong. "At points the [boys] were thinking it was getting a lot more serious than just being stuck up for their stuff, that these guys were intending on doing some serious harm to them."
Once they had the money the attackers fled in their dark-coloured Mazda hatchback, leaving the boys at the A".
Mr Armstrong said the victims were "pretty shaken up" after their ordeal but managed to escape without injury.
"They complied with instructions, they kept their head and while they lost their stuff they didn't get injured."
