The Employment Relations Authority will this morning hear a case against Novopay after a decision that reduces the pay of six-thousand school support staff.
The teachers' union says Novopay has annualised the pay of school office administrators, teacher aides and support staff so they're paid all year, not just during the term.
NZEI spokeswoman Alison Gray says it means a 3.7 cut in pay each fortnight over the next year, and some workers are losing up to 40 dollars a week.
She says support staff are already the lowest paid in the sector and are struggling.
The hearing starts at 10am in Wellington.
