Armed police stormed an Auckland school yesterday in the hunt for three gunmen who had taken students hostage - but it was all in the name of training.
The full-scale lockdown at Somerville Intermediate School in Howick was designed to test the response to gunmen in a school.
Local police, armed offenders squad officers and the St John emergency response team were quickly on the scene, and the "gunmen" were caught within an hour.
