The principal of a Napier primary school is praising the actions of his teachers following reports of a gunman loose in the area yesterday.
Police were called to Tamatea Primary School after a man was seen chasing another with a gun. Officers instructed staff to keep children locked inside until the incident was resolved.
Principal Wiremu Pearson says his eight teachers moved fast to secure the school, completing the task in minutes.
A man and a woman have been arrested in relation to the incident.
