A report into how a convicted sex offender eluded authorities to teach in North Island schools has been delayed.
The findings of a ministerial inquiry led by former Ombudsman Mel Smith, which were due to be given to the Minister for Education Hekia Parata today, have been delayed to early next week.
The report would detail how Terito Henry Miki, 41, managed to train as a teacher and work in up to eight schools.
Ms Parata called for an inquiry in February when Miki was confirmed to be working at an Auckland primary school using an alias.
Ms Parata wanted answers about how Miki eluded the Teachers' Council, police and Department of Corrections to find work in the education system.
