South Featherston School recently had a highly successful fair which raised over five thousand dollars for the school.
The agricultural fair had many attractions such as a petting zoo, a game named balloon pop, a fishing game, lucky dips and their traditional lamb and calf day competition.
I came to the fair around 8.30 to help set up the fishing game, which proved to be a lot more difficult than I had assumed. After dragging seven bucketfuls of water and tipping them in a pool, my friend Ellie and I had to untangle the fishing rods. It is incredibly difficult to untangle four fishing rods when they are interwoven so tightly they almost seem purposely intertwined.
The fair officially started and ten o'clock, but several stalls opened at 9.30. The prizes were great, like a packet of mousse for four, a mini radio and a fluffy toy penguin with the cutest face.
I entered a lamb in the competition. My lamb, Flossie, is very shy and attached to Ellie's lamb, Sweetie, so the competition didn't go so well. In the leading, she tugged on her lead and tried to get to Sweetie instead of walking around the pole. In calling, she ran to me as fast as she could - and then began to eat grass.
