About seven video recordings of New Zealand school violence are available for viewing on the internet site YouTube, it was reported today.
The videos show students involved in vicious beatings and all appeared to have been recorded with mobile phones.
Pupils from Auckland Grammar School, Tauranga Boys College and St Kentigern College were all identified in the footage, the Press said.
Family Help Trust chairwoman Annabel Taylor told the paper the clips represented the worst aspects of bullying.
Martin Crocker, director of the internet safety education group Netsafe, said though the acts themselves might be illegal, posting videos of them on the internet did not break any laws.
