The driver of the truck that collided with a school bus this morning has been taken to Tauranga Hospital.
Traffic remains backed up for several kilometres on State Highway 2 south of Te Puke, where the crash happened.
Several children on board the bus suffered minor cuts and bruises in the collision and it is understood they have been dropped off or picked up by their parents.
The driver of the truck was seriously injured. It is understood the driver of the bus also received injury.
Members of the Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit (CVIU) are now at the scene and investigating as contractors work to clear the road.
