"Hamish is a good dude, he had a decent talk to me about it nice and kind calm about it as well. Good chap looking after his school."
On Monday, a facially tattooed gang member went to Trident's Arawa Rd campus allegedly looking for a Year 10 student he had an issue with.
Students said the man was yelling abuse before a Trident student took offence and charged at him. The video shows the student being joined by a number of his peers who kick and punch the gang member.
As a result students involved in the brawl were stood down and were to attend a disciplinary meeting today.
Police maintained a strong presence at the school this week with patrols before, during and after school hours.
Trident principal Philip Gurney described the incident as unfortunate in its entirety.
"We provide a safe and secure learning environment for our students at Trident High School as every school should have the right to do," Mr Gurney said.
"Not only has this been unfortunate for the reputation of Trident, it has also been damaging to the entire community.
"People who are in a position to ensure this doesn't happen again need to do everything in their power to see that it doesn't."
He said following Monday's brawl, the school had enjoyed a good rest of the week.
"Students and staff have been settled, it's been business as usual."
Mr Gurney said school staff were working with police over the incident.
"At the end of the day it makes me sad we have become the focus of unwanted attention. It doesn't serve our school or our community well."
Police were unavailable to comment.
A 22-year-old has been charged with breaching bail conditions.
