School backs afterball

Organisers of Northcote College's afterball last night said the event was held with the support of the school and parents.

Almost 300 revellers attended the party at Alexandra Park in Greenlane after the ball in central Auckland.

Cade Pellett of Afterglo Events said 270 youngsters each paid $37 for a ticket.

The party, which was set to continue to 4.30am, had an R18 area with full bar service. Students had to show ID to get access.

Pellett said six parents and two members of the school's board of trustees were on site. A security team checked for alcohol outside the R18 area.

Pellett said it was his company's third afterball this year.
