The hard work of a group of senior Wairarapa College pupils has been rewarded in the latest round of tertiary scholarships granted at the school.
Year 13 dean Beth Pottinger said the recipients had each distinguished themselves academically or in sports or on the stage.
"We are always proud of our students who achieve. They are role models who show what is possible."
She said the scholarships were mainly based on students gaining NCEA Level 2 endorsed with excellence and a merit or excellence endorsement in a Level 3 subject in that same academic year.
Included in the group this year were head boy Ryan Cundy, who won selection to the Young Shakespeare Company, head girl Cara Butcher, who won a $5000 Victoria Excellence scholarship to study at the Wellington varsity, Alex Fafeita, who took a $3000 Massey University scholarship in sports and in arts, and Morgan Percy, who took a Massey sports scholarship to the same value.
