Launched in July 2013, the initiative is a three-year plan aimed at providing free insulation to eligible homes throughout the country.
Families who met set criteria could apply for grants to cover material and installation costs of ceiling and floor insulation.
Wairarapa resident Maria Hook said she and her family had noticed a big difference after their rental home was insulated.
"We have had three different houses done and we have certainly noticed the difference each time," she said.
"Our son gets sick quite a bit in winter but, when the insulation has been done, the houses have just become so much warmer and he hasn't become sick quite as often."
Ms Hook said getting insulation installed through the scheme was quick and easy.
"The process for us has been really quick. We found out about it and after inquiring have been able to get the insulation installed really fast.
The mother-of-two said she was able to get the insulation free and was "impressed" with the Government's healthy homes plan.
The scheme replaced the Warm up New Zealand, Heat Smart initiative, which ran from 2009 to 2013 and was also available to all home owners with houses built before 2000.
Almost 270,000 New Zealand homes have been insulated, Energy Efficient and Conservation Authority spokesman Robert Linterman said. The authority hoped to have up to 300,000 homes insulated by the end of this year. NZME.
