Scenic riverside bush run for Ramblers

The Ruamahanga Ramblers held a run at the scenic Morison's Bush beside the Ruamahanga River last Saturday with fine weather and firm grassy underfoot conditions being enjoyed by 25 runners and walkers of all ages.

Jack Britland was first home in the 2.1km event, just holding off a fast-finishing Andrew Hyman by 4secs with Zac Vainu continuing to improve with a solid third.

In the 4.2km run, Michael Hyman finished in first place from Matthew Furkert and Rebecca Treacy.

The three-lap, 6.3km race was won by Hugh Taylor - who just made the start in the nick of time having detoured by mistake to Martinborough - with Paul Furkert second and Malcom MacDonald third.

Results:

2.1km: Jack Britland 9.35, Andrew Hyman 9.39, Zac Vainu 10.29, Samantha Duthie 13.41.

4.2km: Michael Hyman 18.34, Matthew Furkert 19.33, Rebecca Treacy 22.55, Michael Scott 23.55, Jessica Duthie 26.40, Joanne Kwok 27.24, Della Laird 27.27.

6.3km: Hugh Taylor 26.35, Paul Furkert 27.05, Malcolm MacDonald 27.21, Steve Britland 28.56, Michael Duthie 29.26, Martin Walker 31.20, Martin Parker 32.14, Lloyd Millar 32.59, Chris Megaw 33.29, Wayne Hyman 34.53, Greg Lang 36.47, Claudia Baechle 38.43.

6.3km walk: Ali Lang 52.4, John Ihaka 52.04.

This Saturday, the Ramblers will meet at the Furkerts off Woodlands Road near Parkvale for a road run with a short farm trail section, starting at 2pm.
