About 80 Rotorua sawmill staff went on a 24-hour strike yesterday over pay.
The Distribution Workers Union said the Tachikawa staff were hoping for a 5 per cent pay rise this year, 3 per cent next year and $10 a worker towards the superannuation fund.
The company had offered 3.5 per cent rise for the first year, 2 per cent rise in the second year and 3 per cent in the third year. Company comment was unavailable.
