The world champ of sand sculpting worked his magic on a pile of Auckland's best this weekend at Mission Bay.
Jino Van Bruinessen, from Sydney, was one of four professional sand sculptors who participated in Castles under Canopies.
The event, sponsored by Air New Zealand, was Queensland-themed and the works will be showcased with music and lighting at the Mission Bay Reserve tonight.
Van Bruinessen won the top honour at the Windsor International Sand Sculpting competition last year. He is a former prop maker for the Mad Max movie series.
In the 80s he turned to sand sculpting and has won back-to-back world championship titles. He said sand sculpting takes up most of his time now.
