A Salvation Army emergency accommodation supervisor is under investigation by police over allegations he had a sexual relationship with an underage girl.
Police and the Salvation Army said they received information about the alleged relationship from a person who knew the 15-year-old girl.
Lieutenant Colonel Ian Hutson said as soon as they received the information, they immediately suspended the man from his role in Wellington.
"As soon as we heard of the allegation we turned it over to the police."
It was not known if he was on paid leave.
