Sales of bubble wrap have surged since the Herald on Sunday revealed how one savvy mother was using it to keep her home warm this winter.
Thrifty New Zealanders have followed the lead of New Plymouth mum Denise Wheoki in droves and taken to sticking bubble wrap to their windows as insulation.
Warehouse Stationery general manager of marketing, Julie Garlick, said bubble wrap sales shot up by 50 per cent last week, making it the company's best sales week of the year.
"I think it's safe to assume people have read your article," she said.
Mitre 10 Mega Henderson assistant manager Allan D'Costa said there had been a good level of interest in bubble wrap and a clear, purpose-designed window film product recommended by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority.
