Sailor jumps into sea

Tasmanian Bruce Wilson, 53, jumped overboard into huge seas at the weekend rather than continue his solo voyage to New Zealand.

Wilson was en route to New Zealand when his 10m yacht Deseado rolled through 360 degrees in huge seas about 220km east of Tasmania.

A Tasmanian rescue helicopter found the Deseado and Mr Wilson. He was flown to the Royal Hobart Hospital with minor cuts and abrasions and chest injuries.
