Lack of wind wiped out Wednesday's racing schedule.
After a thunderstorm hit Sydney overnight, whatever breeze on the harbour was light and fluctuating and not considered suitable for fair competition.
As a result, the men's and women's 470 medals will not be decided until Thursday, with Australians leading both fleets.
While Cantabrians Melinda Henshaw and Jenny Egnot are out of the running in the women's 470, there is New Zealand interest in the performance of the Australian crew, skippered by Dunedin-born former New Zealand Olympian Jenny Armstrong.
Five other classes are scheduled to be in action on Thursday.
The Europes, Lasers, Finns and Stars will continue their fleet racing, while the New Zealand and Dutch Soling crews will engage in a one-race sail-off for a place in the semifinals.
