A Carterton saddlery has helped give a half-dozen saddles to Wairarapa Riding for the Disabled as part of a nationwide promotion.
Sonja Garrity, of Clareville Saddlery, said she was "very pleased" to be handing over the saddles, which were traded as part of the 2014 Weatherbeeta New Zealand promotion aimed at helping the charitable organisation across New Zealand. She said checks were completed on each of the saddles, to ensure horse and rider would be safe if the equipment was used.
Linda Tankersley, president of Wairarapa Riding for the Disabled, said the group was keen to increase their store of riding gear and the half-dozen donated saddles were welcome.
"We're always looking for saddles and this donation is a gain for us either way, whether we use or sell the saddles."
