A group of rural women have raised over $26,000 for breast cancer research by selling a risque, rural-themed calendar.
Inspired by the 2003 film Calendar Girls, members of Rural Women NZ's Winchmore Branch in Canterbury stripped off to pose in sheep pens, hen houses, and woolsheds.
The "tasteful" 2008 calendar sold out with over 2000 copies sent around the world.
Ms January, Maureen Maginness said their support for the cause came about as several RWNZ members had been affected by breast cancer.
"We aimed to raise $15,000, but raising $26,000 is an amazing amount of money. It's a wonderful thing our members have done."
She said the women had fun working on the calendars.
