About $500,000 of the $10million budget for hosting VIPs at the Rugby World Cup will go on transport, including limousines for foreign leaders and royalty.
The May Budget allocated $9.9million to fund the hosting of guests of the Government.
The head of Internal Affairs, Brendan Boyle, told a select committee at Parliament yesterday that $500,000 of that would be for transport.
Among the possible guests of the Government are the Queen, Prince William, Prince Harry, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev or Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, President Nicolas Sarkozy of France and President Jacob Zuma of South Africa.
