A woman who claims she was sexually violated by members of the touring England rugby team has released a statement to rugby officials and media.
The statement, issued through lawyers Chapman Tripp, says that while wishing to protect her privacy, the woman wants to correct misinformation that has appeared in some media reports in New Zealand and England.
In the statment, she says she that was invited back to the hotel by a member of the English team.
She also claims she that was sexually violated by four members of the touring team and that the "violations caused injuries such that the medical professionals treating her referred her to the police."
The statement dismisses speculation that she knows the woman who sold the so-called 'Angel Barbie' story to newspapers, and denies that she works as a lap dancer.
The woman also denies that her dealings with the police and medical professionals were prompted by a 'boyfriend'.
She says she has not - and does not wish to have - any communication with the news media.
A police investigation into the incident continues.
