Promising schoolboy rugby star Robert Hickland has died from severe neck injuries sustained while playing late last month.
Robert, 17, a New Zealand under-17 representative, was playing for Feilding High School's 1st 15 against Rathkeale College 1st 15 on June 28 when he broke his neck in a tackle.
He was flown to Christchurch's Burwood Hospital where he underwent operations and appeared to be improving before losing the fight to recover.
