Two boys were taken to Starship Hospital with suspected neck injuries in two separate rugby games at the same ground at almost the same time.
A St John Ambulance spokesman said a 9-year-old sustained neck injuries in a junior rugby game at Helensville Rugby Club grounds just after 11am.
While the ambulance was there, an 11-year-old suffered similar injuries.
Club official Tonny Heck said the younger boy, Jaedan Brown, was a J4 player with Marist North Harbour.
"From talking to the ref and other people he sort of landed on his head ... there was no foul play involved," he said. "We were concerned because he was shaking and didn't look too good and he was complaining of a sore leg but when he was in the ambulance the driver told us he seemed to be okay," he said.
