Wairarapa-Bush are in line to win the second division of the Hurricanes colts rugby competition for the second successive year.
They qualified for the final to be played at Palmerston North on Saturday by beating Horowhenua-Kapiti 20-14 last weekend. And it will be Horowhenua-Kapiti who will again be their opponents in the competition decider.
Coach Mark Rutene said Wairarapa-Bush looked set for a big win in their latest encounter, but after working their way to a 20-9 lead early in the second half they "went to sleep" and allowed Horowhenua-Kapiti back into the game.
"We had a dead patch and they capitalised?.it got a lot closer than it should have," Rutene said.
Halfback Mike Hollis, who scored two tries, was outstanding for Wairarapa-Bush, as were winger Nic Olson and loose forward Jared Hawkins.
Whichever team wins the second division final will then have the right to challenge the bottom first division side, either Wellington or Hawke's Bay, for a place in the premier league.
