One of the biggest funeral services in Eketahuna's recent history was held yesterday to farewell family man, businessman and sportsman Ross Rowden.
The Eketahuna Community Centre was packed out for the service with many people standing outside and the farewell reflected Mr Rowden's devotion to the town, with his casket being painted in the colours of the rugby club of which he was a stalwart.
Mr Rowden was well known in many spheres, not the least being as a contractor who serviced not only the farms and properties of Eketanhuna but also much further afield.
The Times-Age intends to run Mr Rowden's obituary next week.
