Pioneer have already lifted the Kapene Cup, awarded to the team in pole position after the first round of games, courtesy of their win over Bush Sports at Memorial Park last weekend.
Pioneer have the bye this weekend so attention will focus on those teams vying for a top eight finish, with two games in particular catching the eye.
Puketoi will be taking particular interest in tomorrow's games. They travel to Greytown and will be desperately wanting to upset their hosts to gain maximum points. It's a big ask for Puketoi but a win might be enough to secure a top eight finish. Greytown for their part have been in good form and won't be in any mood to reverse that trend or do their visitors any favours.
Puketoi also depend on Rams coming away with the spoils from their visit to Eketahuna since an Eketahuna loss would leave them on 13 points and a Puketoi victory would see them leapfrog Eketahuna with a minimum of 15 points.
Another game of interest kicks off at Whareama where fourth-placed East Coast entertain second-placed Bush Sports who hold a one-point advantage over their hosts (35-34). Both sides will be out to post the win so expect a well contested tussle. Bush Sports will take encouragement from their strong forward showing against Pioneer last weekend and will seek to replicate that.
