The Wairarapa-Bush Rugby Union is to readvertise the position of coach of their Heartland championship side.
This was the outcome of a special meeting of the union's board in Masterton last night where the recent resignation of former Samoan
international Earl Va'a as coach of the province's premier side was discussed.
Va'a had only been appointed to the post late last year but after forming his management team and holding a couple of pre-season training sessions for prospective players he resigned to take up a more lucrative coaching offer in Japan.
WBRU chief executive officer Phil Taylor said his board was acutely aware of the need to fill the coaching role within a short time frame and as such they would be be confining their advertising campaign to the local media and hopefully announcing a replacement for Va'a within the next fortnight or so.
"We see being transparent to our shareholders as being very important and we beleive this is the best way of accomplishing that,"Taylor said, adding that while the advertising would only be done locally there was no reason why people from outside the Wairarapa-Bush area shouldn't apply.
"We're happy to hear from anyone who believes they can do a good job for us," he said.
Taylor said his board was intent on the new coach working alongside the existing management team of Mike Robinson as assistant coach,Neil Foote as trainer and Brian Abbot as team manager. "That structure is already in place and we see no reason why it should be changed,"he said.
