Rubbish truck kills man in Auckland

A man was run over and killed by a rubbish truck in South Auckland this morning, say police.

The truck was reversing along Sutton Road at about 10am, with two workers walking alongside it. One of the workers fell under the wheels and was run over, say police. He died at the scene.

Police and Department of Labour staff are investigating.

The man will not be named until next of kin have been informed of his death.
