An Auckland Council rubbish contractor who was crushed by a rubbish truck yesterday is now in a stable condition at Middlemore Hospital.
The man was reported yesterday to be in a critical condition after being crushed between a rubbish truck and a tree while delivering rubbish bins to residents in Golfland Dr near Botany Town Centre.
Counties Manukau Senior Sergeant Hamish Chapman said emergency services were called about 11.30am yesterday and part of Golfland Dr was closed.
Auckland Council director of infrastructure and environmental services Barry Potter said the council was liaising with the contractor and with WorkSafe, which is investigating the accident.
A Middlemore Hospital spokeswoman said this morning that the man's condition was now stable. His name has not been released.
