Auckland ratepayers have forked out $40,000 to clear more than 26 tonnes of illegally dumped rubbish from the Tamaki Bridge Foreshore Reserve in Otahuhu.
About 10 workers and contractors worked for three weeks to remove items such as furniture, electrical appliances, about 100 bags of domestic rubbish, car batteries and 139 car tyres.
Anyone who witnesses illegal dumping in Auckland is asked to note the vehicle registration and call (09) 379-2020, a 24-hour line.
