Meet the country's newest detective-in-training. Two-year-old labrador Roxy has joined a team to learn how to protect the country's borders from drug smugglers. She had her first experience on a boat this week.
In non-slip booties and harness, Roxy took her first tentative steps on deck before setting to work. In less than two minutes, she made her find - a rag coated with a methamphetamine scent hidden in the sail cover. Handler Brendon Kircher, 26, rewarded the pup with her favourite toy.
Kircher says Roxy, who will graduate in July, has everything it takes to be a top detective dog: hunting instincts, a friendly nature and the ability to follow instructions.
