A Rotorua district councillor has failed in his bid to turn down a salary rise, claiming he had not earned it.
Mark Gould, a first-term councillor, tried to turn down the $295 salary increase but was unsuccessful in convincing other councillors to vote against it.
He said he would probably give the extra money to charity.
