The modelling world's next superstar-in-waiting has given a boost to designer Karen Walker's latest collection of sassy frocks and striped dungarees.
Ruby Stewart, 18-year-old daughter of rocker Rod Stewart and former model Kelly Emberg, chose Walker's show on Sunday to make her runway debut on day one of London Fashion Week.
Walker, speaking from London, said Stewart was the perfect match for her designs, reflecting the mood of her spring/summer collection.
"Ruby's unpretentious youthfulness is a great fit with the new 'Karen in TV Land' collection for next summer."
Hailing from Los Angeles, Stewart is with the top London agency Select Model Management.
Website vogue.co.uk reported a warm reception to Walker's show: "Skinny jeans, striped dungarees and pretty camisoles worn over cute bikinis proved this Kiwi has her finger firmly on London's fashion pulse."
Walker will show her autumn-winter 06 collection at the final show at Air New Zealand Fashion Week next month.
