Harlequin Theatre is bringing a classic fairytale to life for its junior production - with a 50s twist.
This year, the "Harlequin Juniors" are taking on Little Red Rocking Hood by Gavin Bishop, a modern, rock opera version of the beloved tale.
While the original children's story was set in the woods, Little Red Rocking Hood takes place in a 1950s jukebox joint, and features a chorus in rockabilly outfits, a soda pop machine and a big bad wolf in "dark sunglasses and blue suede shoes".
The production is part of the theatre's Junior Harlequin programme, directed by John Mabey, which runs weekly acting and stage craft workshops for children aged five to 13.
As well as Little Red Rocking Hood, the children will also perform a variety of short plays in small groups to further showcase their acting skills.
