A Sydney journalist was allegedly assaulted by the son of a former Split Enz member when he flew to the Bay of Plenty to interview him.
It was reported tonight that Tristan Barker, 18, assaulted reporter David Eccleston, of Channel 7.
Mr Barker is the the son of Michael Barker, of Split Enz and The John Butler Trio.
Police said an 18-year-old had been charged with common assault after an altercation at a Rotorua address and would appear in court later this month.
