Fifty years to the day after two frigates sailed from Devonport Naval Base to the Korean War, a large rock will be unveiled as a memorial to New Zealand's contribution to the campaign.
The rock was mined from a quarry near Pusan City.
New Zealand was one of several countries that fought under the banner of the United Nations in Korea.
The rock will be unveiled at Devonport on Monday alongside a gun mounting from the former Loch-class frigate HMNZS Tutira, which sailed from Auckland for Korea on July 3, 1950, with its sister ship HMNZS Pukaki.
Six frigates and nearly 1500 sailors from this country saw action in the four years of the war.
