KEY POINTS:
Two would-be robbers, one reported to be armed with a handgun, were frightened off in Hastings last night when a dairy owner stood his ground and threw cans of drinks at them.
Police said the offenders fled emptyhanded from the Palm store-dairy on Frederick St, running through schoolgrounds to reach their vehicle.
