KEY POINTS:
Police have appealed to the public for help after a brazen daylight robbery of two security guards netted a reported $100,000.
The four Polynesian or Maori men waited for at least 15 minutes for the ADT security van to arrive at the Glenfield Mall on Auckland's North Shore yesterday morning before they held up the two guards at gunpoint and fled in a white van with the cash.
No shots were fired but the security guards were slightly injured in a struggle.
Police would not confirm the precise amount stolen although they did say it was "significant".
Police also said today they had not ruled out that the robbers had inside help.
"It is always an aspect of any inquiry..."
A white van, possibly the getaway vehicle, was found at in the car park of another mall at Highbury a few kilometres away.
Detective Constable Warren Mills said police had no clues on the identity of the four men, who were armed with a pistol and a knife.
The security guards were "recovering at home, obviously shaken".
He said the robbery was well planned. "Clearly they did not just drive up there as opportunists."
He appealed for anyone who may have seen the robbers waiting at the Bentley Avenue entrance to the mall about 7am yesterday to contact them.
Mr Mills said anyone with information could call him on (09) 477 5089.
