Firefighters from several townships were scrambled to a blaze that erupted in roadside grass in South Wairarapa yesterday.
Fire communications shift supervisor David Meikle said crews from Martinborough and Featherston attended the scene on Hinakura Rd about noon along with a rural fire party and the water tanker from Carterton.
He said the fire had spread to an area about 100m by 20m in size and members of a rural fire party had remained at the scene to dampen hotspots.
