A crash in Onehunga that brought down power lines has forced the closure of two main roads for several hours.
Parts of Neilson St and Captain Springs Rd have been closed as authorities work to clear the area after a truck crashed about 11.45am.
The crash severely damaged a power pole but the driver was not injured.
Police said this evening the powerpole was on a lean and would have to be replaced. Cordons were in place until the team at Vector completed the work.
Because workers are still at the scene, electricity to some homes has been shut off in the area and is expected to be restored by about 8pm.
