A 57-year-old road worker was seriously injured when she was struck by a van as she operated a stop-go sign in the Bay of Plenty today.
The local woman was working on State Highway 35 at Maranenui, near Te Kaha, about 66km northeast of Opotiki, when she was struck by the van about 8.50am.
She received serious facial, abdominal and leg injuries.
The woman was stabilised at the scene by St John ambulance staff before being flown to Tauranga hospital by the TrustPower TECT rescue helicopter.
