Two men who died in separate accidents in Waikato last weekend would probably have survived had they worn seat belts, say police.
Peter Tumahai, 40, of Orakei and Jonathan Burt, 19, of Putaruru, died on Sunday in single-vehicle crashes in which the drivers had been drinking and the vehicles were speeding, said police.
Neither victim wore a seat belt.
"Had they been we believe the crashes would have been survivable," said Waikato road policing manager, Inspector Leo Tooman.
