Road spill causes central Auckland skating rink

Auckland's central city became a skating rink for cars this morning after a huge diesel spill.

The Fire Service says vehicles were sliding over the road from Wyndham and Albert Streets to Queen and Fort Streets.

There were however no crashes.

Emergency services and local authorities had to use several truckloads of absorbent material to soak it up.

They believe from the size of the spill it must have come from a leaking tanker.
