Road crash chaos

Two crashes caused long delays north of Auckland yesterday morning.

A 7.30am crash left one passenger with serious injuries when a car spun out on new seal and hit an oncoming vehicle, blocking State Highway One near Wellsford.

Traffic was diverted through Kaipara Flats Rd but within an hour a truck hit a rail overbridge, blocking both lanes.

And a 23-year-old woman was killed on the Te Anau-Manapouri highway near Te Anau late on Friday night.

Lorena Eiraldi Hernandez of Uruguay hit a bank and rolled about 10pm.
