Road blocked after truck overturns in Riverhead

Police are warning motorists to take other routes after a truck carrying a forklift tipped over in Riverhead, north of Auckland.

The incident took place at the northern end of Riverhead between Newtown and Elliot Roads.

Police said a diversion was put in place after the accident, but that route had also been blocked after a second truck became stuck in a ditch.

As a result west-bound traffic is having to return right back to the Coatesville turnoff on SH17 north of Albany and east-bound back to SH16 on the Kumeu road, they said.

No-one was injured in either incident.
