The family of a grandmother who was hit and killed by a vehicle while she was removing road barriers from a busy Taranaki road, say the consequences of the actions of the person who blocked the road were "long reaching".
Hawera woman Christine Anne Fairweather, 57, was hit by a vehicle in the southbound lane of State Highway 3 at Normanby about 11.50pm on August 2.
She had stopped her car and turned on the hazard lights as she tried to move metal fence frames that someone had removed from the footpath and placed on the road, blocking the lane.
Mrs Fairweather died at the scene.
Her family released a statement today thanking all of the people involved on the night of the crash. "Also to all those who have sent cards, baking and showed us how incredibly loved and respected Christine was thank you."
