Southland police are still on the lookout for burglars who are about $10,000 better off.
Thieves broke into the offices of the Riverton Racing Club after Saturday's meeting and made off with the cash.
A spokesman for Riverton police says they have examined the scene thoroughly, but are no further ahead as to who broke in. It is understood the burglars got in through a louvre window.
The burglary capped off a disastrous Saturday for the racing club in which apprentice jockey Sam McRae died.
