Wellingtonians showed they could party with the best of them last night at a function to mark the end of filming for The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Two thousand guests danced the night away at Shed 21 on Wellington's waterfront, while media jostled outside to catch a glimpse of the stars.
Actors Sean Astin, Orlando Bloom and Dominic Monaghan were among the revellers, along with director Peter Jackson, MP Max Bradford and Wellington Mayor Mark Blumsky.
However, American actress Liv Tyler was not there, she is believed to be overseas.
Many of the films' behind-the-scenes staff arrived at the party in a steady stream of limousines, while Jackson and others arrived in taxis.
Dave Dobbyn and his band provided the entertainment.
